The Moving Wall Memorial

5/14- 5/15: Presented by Some Gave All, Inc., The Moving Wall Memorial including the Iraq and Afghan Wars. Join VFW Post 10131 in honoring those who gave their ultimate sacrifice from 9/11/2001 until the present day. “The Moving Tribute” is designed to heal and hopefully bring some closure for loved ones, family and friends. Opening ceremonies begin on 5/14 promptly at 11am. The event goes from 11am-4pm both days. Food concessions will be available. VFW Post 10131 is located at 101 Long Point Road in Cape Canaveral.

5/24- 5/26: Space Congress 2016 Join space industry professionals, students and enthusiasts at the 44th annual Space Congress in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Space Congress® is a forum that allows for technical interchange between aerospace professionals, faculty, students and the general public regarding current space initiatives. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex participates in panel discussion at this event hosted at the Radisson Resort in Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach. Admission is $40-$150. Located at the Radisson Resort, 8701 Astronaut Boulevard in Cape Canaveral.

5/14-5/15: Summer Arts & Crafts Fair and Sportsman Show in Historic Cocoa Village. Over 150 unique artisans, fantastic food, family fun, Kids Zone, and live entertainment make up two days of fabulous fun! On Saturday the fair goes from 10am-5pm, and on Sunday from 10am-4pm. 5/14 – 5/30: Cocoa Village’s Taylor Park hosts the unveiling of the first art project of Cocoa Village Artworks, a new community initiative to promote and celebrate public art by bringing together local artists and sponsors. City benches will be painted by Brevard County artists from May 14th to 28th, and the reveal of the benches is on May 30th. 6/3: Indian River Lagoon Fundraiser. Dr. Duane DeFreese, Executive Director of the newly formed IRL Council and host of the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program, will be speaking about the reasons for the recent fish kill at Squid Lips Cocoa Beach.  A question and answer session will follow. 5/7: AIDS Orphan 5K Mud Run from 8am-1pm. The race is raising money for the AIDS Orphans and Street Children, Inc. that provides for children whose parents have died of AIDS related diseases and for these children who do not have a ‘sustaining’ family. The first wave starts at 8:15am prices range from $49 for Adults to Juniors $15 and include Adult, Junior, Family Mud Run and Junior Family Fun Run and includes 35 unique and challenging obstacles. The Florida Surf Museum’s annual Waterman’s Challenge––the most mellow, grassroots contest of the year––will be held on June 3rd, 4th, and 5th, behind the International Palms Resort.
