8/14: 70th Anniversary of WWII’s End. This celebration and barbecue at the Space Coast Convention Center will mark the passing of 70 years since the end of World War II. Guests are encouraged to dress in 40’s period style clothing, and will witness music and exhibits that reflect the era. 8/26: 4th Annual Tuxes & Tails Gala hosted by the Brevard Humane Society. This pet-friendly black tie affair will raise money for the ongoing renovation of the no-kill shelter in Cocoa. Guests will enjoy performances, a buffet dinner, music and live and silent auctions. Tickets are $100 per person, and VIP and sponsorship opportunities are still available. 9/6: 12th Annual Brevard Caribbean Festival at Cocoa Village Riverfront Park. This free event brings together authentic Caribbean food with amazing live entertainment and children’s activities. The event takes place from 11am-9pm.

8/31: Atlas V- MOUS 4- Rocket Launch. United Launch Alliance will launch an Atlas 5 rocket for the U.S. Navy built by Lockheed Martin. The rocket is intended to improve ground communications for U.S. forces. The launch window opens at 4:07am, time and date are subject to change.

8/8: Florida Comics Experience at the Eau Gallie Civic Center. This is the third year of the FCE, and they are working hard to prove that comics are an art that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. 8/22: Animation Domination presented by the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra. 8/3-8/5: Junior Safe Boating Class presented by the Banana River Sail and Power Squadron. Children will have the opportunity to learn the basics of boat handling, safety, navigation, and government regulations. They will also receive the Florida Boating Safety Education ID card required to operate boats. Classes take place from 9am-11:30am and cost $10.
